Screener Snacks is a candy distributor that focuses on creating new ideas and generating more revenue in movie theaters. The main goal is to create a series of candy that are not only good to eat but are visually interesting to appeal to a wider audience. Through this, more people going to movie theaters would be enticed to buy candy thus generating more revenue for the theaters. To do this, the main selling point would be the “Reel Deal,” where snacks could be bundled in fives to fit into a package shaped like a film reel. Reels would only be available if the customer purchased five Screener Snacks snack packs. This would encourage more spending within the theater. We want our message to be that candy can be more than just a treat; it can be an experience. We want to be a fun-loving, kid-friendly company that instills happiness in peoples lives.
The logo was made to stand out yet relate to other competitors in the candy market. The monochromatic red color scheme not only stands out because of it’s bold nature, but was also meant to relate the logo to classic theater branding, such as older concession candy. In fact, the logo’s biggest inspiration was old popcorn bags from the 1930’s. This helps to create a sense of familiarity within the product as soon as the customer sees it. The type face Quartzo fit perfectly with this classic theme, and with some adjusting helped to create the final logo. Each candy in the Screener Snacks collections uses this idea of familiarity to give a special homage to the history of theater.
The reel itself was the most important part of this project. It really tied everything together to make for a really unique way to carry all of the different candies. The reel was made with a foam interior so that anything put into the slots would have a firm grip. The top and bottom of the reel was made with laser cut wood for sturdiness.
